I thought I would just share our experience with our second child Gabriel in here! Merry Christmas!

Well, it happened! Gabriel Michael Champney was born on November 13th 2009!!! Friday the 13th!!! Teeheehee At 21:43 (for those of you who are not military; that's 9:43 pm) He weight 7lbs on the button, and 19 inches long!

I had begun small contractions Thursday night and wondered if he was coming sooner rather than later. So a couple of girlfriends and I went walking to speed things up! We must have walked and talked for over an hour-they had me in hysterics over stories they were telling-it was priceless! 4:00 friday morning my contractions began to get worse and closer together. I spent two hours walking the floor of my darkened house breathing deeply, and trying to wrap my head around what was beginning to happen! At six in the morning I woke Glen and told him to get us to the hospital because I couldn't take not knowing what the next steps were. My water had not broken and i couldn't keep walking the floor for another five ours. So we got Mahalia down stairs to my neighbors house and nicely headed on post. He didn't drive like a maniac-everything was so calm and cool! We got into the hospital and was stuck on the monitor for three hours all the say the I was dilated to four, effaced 75% and needed to be emitted. LONNNNG story short...I had my birth plan: Not one drug, yes on shower/bath, yes on birthing ball, baby mmediatelyly on my tummy after birth trying to breastfeed while Daddy cuts the cord. I got all the way dilateded to 7; with Glen being the amazing hero and coach he is! Giving me water and candies to suck on in between contractions. Holding me, helping me into different positions to ease the pain, counting the strengths of when the contraction was going down. (it TOTALLY helped for him to tell me when they were headed down; it gave me something to look forward to) We spent several hours doing this and after two of the most painfulll contractions i had felt I began to get that panicky feeling to push. I knew it was too soon so I bit the bullet and sadly-but great fullly had an epidural. My doctor was so impressed that i got to 7-he congratulateded us and said it was about time to have some drugs!! A couple hours of rest for both Glen and I; we were ready to push! The coolest and almost funny thing was how calm the whole delivery was! Glen and i are still astonished! I could still feel the contractions, they weren't as pain fullll but I made sure I wanted to feel them. (Check this out!) My two doctors at the foot of the bed; Glen is on one side with my foot up on his shoulder, and my other on the nurses shoulder-I'm wide open for the WHOLE world to see the show-we begin to push!! okay, so we started this conversation (all of us) and then an other contraction wouldld come. I'd push and then we'd continue our conversation! Or then we'd tell jokes! HA! It was like that through the whole thing-all the way up to the end!! I got to hold Gabriel right away, Glen cut the cord and it was just...the picture of perfect...*sigh* Glen was totally there the whole time. He didn't get grossed out-not once! Oh! And when Gabriel was crowning glen smiled saying, "And we will call him raisin!" We all giggled over that.
We got out of the hospital on Sunday and have been home ever since. Glen got 2 1/2 weeks off from work! He is now back to work, but we both feel it was such a blessing! Thank you Lord! Mahalia just LOVES her brother; and she's soooooo gentle with him! Ooo I love it!

expecting boy ~Rachael...and we shall call him Gabriel, "God is my strength."

What a great story!  I'm so glad it went (mostly) the way you wanted it!
