If you are have you been able to lose weight? I have heard that the IUD mirena has no side effects in regards to losing weight but I never had any problems prior to mirena so I want your thoughts on this.

Mirena has hormones and anything with hormones can affect things like sex, weight, appetite, acne, etc. I got the paragard and even though it's hormone free, it's still affecting my uterus which is affecting my body. I hate it.

Women should not feel guilty if they are UNABLE to breastfeed, but they should feel guilty if they are UNWILLING to do so, and they should be intellectually honest enough to know the difference. - Elizabeth Gene
I got my Mirena put in only 8 weeks post partum and have had no issues in losing weight and I have not gained any. I gained 40 lbs altogether while pregnant with DD and I had lost it all within 4 months after having her. I am back down to my prepregnancy weight and have not gained any weight at all.
I too have mirena and got mine eight weeks post delivery. I haven't noticed any problems except the occasional spotting. I haven't had a lot of sex but i think that is due to the fact that i am chasing a three year old around and have a three month old. Also I enjoy sex in the morning (when i am not tired) and my husband likes it at night (so he can sleep better). The lack of sex has more to do with that. Although i really haven't wanted it all that much.
I got the paragard and I've always had trouble losing weight ever since I entered my mid-twenties. In my case it was an underactive thyroid--if you're having trouble losing weight, schedule a checkup with your regular doctor and ask them to check your thyroid and your cholesterol--it could be your thyroid isn't producing enough of its hormones. I was told taht mine was sluggish, but I couldn't lose weight, ha dno energy and also my hair and nails wouldn't grow. I started on synthroid and my weight started coming off, I suddenly felt normal again and my hair and nails started growing like they normally do.
so maybe ask your doctor some questions and maybe you can figure out what's going on. keep in mind also, you've had a baby--your body has changed and perhaps you need to just talk to your doctor and see if the two of you can figureo ut waht's going on.
