my daughter is about 6 weeks old. we just got over her being really stuffed up since the weather is so bad here and cold. for the past day or so she has had really runny poop. it has now caused a really bad diaper rash. i have tried desitin and now using aveeno diaper rash cream. she has a lil bit of runny poop and only poops a timy bit every 1-3 hrs. but it is making it very difficult to get rid of the rash and i can tell it bothers her. please help! i dont know what to do for her runny constant poop and rash.
Don't know of much you can do for the runniness because of her age. But Boudreaux's Butt Paste is one of the very best diaper rash creams out there. It's the only one that worked on my DS. He has been put on lots of antibiotics for infections and they always gave him really bad diarrhea. I just made sure to put it on every time I changed his diaper and gave him a little chance to "air out"
I was going to suggest this, it works wonders!!

I can tell you it is not good to go from Desitin to Aveeno. My daughter had a reaction to the Aveeno that just made her rash worse. I'm talking blisters:(. Put on a nice thick layer of Desitin and powder. Lots of powder! Nothing you can do about the poop really, it will work itself out.
Butt paste or Aquaphor is really good. I usually use that. It's pricey but can be used for other things. Also an old remedy is corn starch. Just sprinkle it or pat it on the rash. You can also put the baby in a bath with baking soda (powder in orange box). Just put some in lukewarm or warm water & let your baby sit in it. I usually don't wash my kids when I do this it's just for the purpose of relieving any pain from a rash so I pour the water over them & then rinse them off with clean water when getting them out.

diarrhea actually has some bile in it that can burn the skin so try to catch the poo diaper as quickly as you can because the burn doesn't take that much time to happen! Try to let baby's skin air dry after every change. When we have a bad break out here I actually use antibiotic ointment for one day, and I notice a huge difference after that, then stick to corn starch powders and your favorite cream to keep the skin conditioned. I use cloth so I don't use the butt paste or anything and still get those nasty rashes from illness to go away in a matter of a couple of days. Letting baby soak in the bath for 10 minutes a couple times a day for a couple of days is a good suggestion too.

Yep! Butt paste is awesome! It only seems to take a couple of diaper changes for the worst of the rash to go away. And for what it's worth, my little ones didn't fuss when I used it like they fussed with the other stuff.
i made her a dr. appt today so im gonna see about whats going on. its making it hard for her to even sleep. looks like im gonna be going and getting that butt paste for sure. anyone ever had issues with babies so young having this problem? maybe its a virus or little bug? shes not really fussy unless she needs a diaper change and seems to just want to be held all day.
sometimes it can be a yeast infection but it's more likely from the diarrhea so prevention is the key. That means when you 1st notice the diarrhea you need to put a barrier so that means at each diaper change you put vaseline or diaper rash cream or buttpaste, etc. on so the diarrhea doesn't stick to skin. All of the suggestions we've given will get rid of it within a day, 2 at the most, but usually within a couple of diaper changes. If your baby's in pain then give a little bit of Tylenol to help.
Oh & the baking soda bath will work for any rash so that includes all body onces as well from Roseola or Hand, Foot, Mouth disease.
