My mother in-law says she was using the toilet by the time she was 6 months old. Is that possible?
There is a type of potty training called EC (elimination communication) where starting from birth, parents learn their child's cues for when they need to use the bathroom & then teach the child to hold it long enough to get them to an acceptable place to do their business. They hold the child over the toilet or where-ever & then signal to the child with either sounds or hand signals when it is okay to go potty. There are groups on CM dedicated to this form of training. Perhaps that is how your MIL was potty trained.
It is. There's a technique called EC (can't remember what it stands for) where mothers are in tuen with when their babies have to use the toilet and they take them. It's not so much as potty training as mommy training from what I understand, but I'm not that familiar with it.
My MIL on the other hand says DH was potty trained at 9 months. He would crawl to the toilet, take his pants off, climb up on the toilet, do his business and then get himself down and dressed. She's crazy though and I don't believe her.
Thats amazing...I like to think every child is different and they will learn when they are ready! =)
I feel the same way. My kids will do it when they are ready :)
