So WIC gave us concentrated formula to try on our 3 month old. But I think it is way more of a pain to have to keep it in the fridge, mix with the water, warm up the formula, etc. Does anyone else use concentrated formula? Is there REALLY any difference than the powdered?  (we were given the powdered and conc. to try because they have diff properties i guess?)

No, I just use the powdered kind.  I don't think I would like to have to heat it up.  JMO

I cant tell a HUGE difference between the concentrate and the powder! The powder to me smells horrible!! My daughter seems to like the concentrate better and her spitting up has gone down dramatically, I also love the fact that I have enough milk for a few bottles and not just one. When I make her a bottle I just stick the milk in a bottle warmer and then change her diaper by the time I am done so it the bottle so I love it!

i noticed about the smell too. And after i mix the conc. and water there isn't as many air bubbles as there was with the powder. maybe i'll just keep the conc! .Bump.

We used the liquid formula for my DD as well. The only thing good about powder is that it last longer. =)

we LOVED the RTF or Concentrated formulas!  it is all we used, with the exception of in our diaper bag... then we had powder... just easier to travel with.

we noticed that our girls spit up a LOT less, were less gassy, and overall just happier.

so... instead of mixing the ENTIRE 13oz can with water right away, and storing the whole mess in the fridge...

we put 3oz in each bottle, and put those in the fridge.  when we needed a bottle, i would run the tap water til it was a bit more than warm (but not scalding...) and then add 3oz to the concentrate in the bottle.  it was FAST, and normally ended up being just the right temp! (i always shook it well and tested it) but... both my girls (now 31 months and 16 months) had it the same way.

it worked that way for us... you didnt have a 6oz cold bottle, just 3oz cold and 3 oz sort-of-hot... which all equaled out.

yes... the powder smelled bad, and seemed to be clumpy and much more "bubbley" and cause all sorts of feeding issues for us...

We have used the liquid or concentrated most of my son's life. For him, the ready to feed liquid is much easier on his tummy. He has less gas and is also less constipated. For us, it was just as easy as the powder. We open a can and make a bunch of bottles that we store in the fridge. When he wants one, we just stick the bottle in a cup of hot water and give it 5 minutes. It works well for daycare as well since his bottles have to be made up when I take them in.

We used the concetrated (still have a couple cans left and don't know what to do with them) and we liked it better because DD wasn't as gasy and she ate better.  How we did it was we bought one of those already mixed bottles and used that first because they are the same thing(her pedi told us that) and after that one was done we cleaned it out really well and just mixed the concentrated cans in that. That way we didn't have to worry if the can got accidently knocked over or it got hiden and we forgot about it. We just made sure we washed the container out after every can was done. It made it so much easy on us.
