Can anyone tell me what they know about vaccinations? I am wondering because my baby will be 2 months old soon and is scheduled to be vaccinated...
I have a really good book about vaccinations it's called The Vaccine book and it's by Robert W. Sears.
I liked it only because it wasn't biased either way. He broke down each vaccine and gave you the facts about each so you could make a decision on whether you would like to give it to your child or not :]
I did some looking into this with my son and decided to wait until he was 6 months before his first set. The reason I waited is that they don't adjust the amount of vaccine for the body weight of the child, they give them the same amount no matter how old they are, or how much they weigh, so I wanted to wait unti he was a little heavier and older. That way, if he got sick, he would be older and able to handle it better. I don't know about where you live, I live in Canada, but I had the free choice to wait. I woud encourage you to look into it carefully though. Also check out what their made of. Some are bovine based, some are based on embryos.
Good luck making the best decision!

I second looking into the book The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears. All it's information is unbiased and factual. It tells you each brand of vaccine, it's ingredients, what disease it treats, how treatable that disease is, and it's possible side effects. It's really informative, offers an alternative vaccine schedule and gives good insight for anyone to make the best decision for their family.
Good luck with your decision, and kudos for looking into things before making a big decision :)
Research to the best of your ability and do what you feel is best for your child and family. Best of luck to you.
This is a very loaded question. I started researching when my daughter was 2 months and she now is 3 years. You need to become informed and make your own decisions. The bottom line is that some shots are bad for some babies. And the pharmaceutical companies are a multi-billion dollar operation that depend on using our babies as pin cushions to make money. Some things to research: why in the 70's we received about 11 shots before school and now it's in the 30's...the DPaT scream....the unecessity of the Hep B vaccine which they give to newborns and is only necessary if the mother is Hep B positive and is now being linked to autism....safety of the MMR....ingredients in vaccines which can range from aborted fetal tissue to monkey kidney (in the MMR and my doctor agreed with this).....autism versus vaccine injury......personal stories on the internet by parents who have experienced negative reactions......long lasting results such as allergies, asthma, speech delays, possible autistic links.....payoffs from the pharmaceutical companies to some doctor's offices in the form of bonuses for 100% vaccination rates.....state by state exemptions (each state has their own laws, meaning schools can't keep your child from attending but extracurricular activities can like girl scouts or something).......research all of these diseases they vaccinate for and you may just find that their not as life threatening and we are led to believe (such as measles and chicken pox which I had - and now have lifelong imunnity instead of having to get boosters for the rest of my life)........research EACH AND EVERY SHOT before you allow it given and don't let the doctors try to bully you which they WILL, it's your right to be cautious. Consider a delayed vax schedule by spreading them out. Good luck, dear.
Yes this! I got my baby's shots until she was 4 months old. After that, I really wanted to do what I felt was best for her, not just what society as a whole told me was best. I read this book and made my decision to selectively vaccinate her. I didn't do anymore vaccines until she was 20 months. Then, I only allowed 2 of them. I will not let them do more than 2 at a time. Not until she is older and her body has developed more. That is what worked best for me.
