Cleaning Question (OT)

What kind of mop do you use?

I am looking to buy a new one because I have been having to scrub my floors by hand lately since my mop just pushes the dirt around. So I want something that will actually clean my freaking floors. Any Ideas?

I bought the swiffer mop, but thats just for quick pick me ups. For the real deal, I get down on hands and knees with a sponge. Nothing beats elbow grease! lol

Honestly I think the old fashion string mop is the best. The the one you don't have to ring out by hand, the one that has a twister to ring it out and a bucket with warm water and I use Mr clean solution but thats what works best for my floors!

My mop does the same thing. I've heard some kind of mop works WONDERS but it's $70. I'll be damned if I'm going to pay that much to mop my floors! I just spray Clorox All-Natural All-Purpose cleaner on the floor and get down on my hands and knees with a scrubby to get into the grooves.

Steam cleaners work really well and you don't have to use chemicals.

i also do my hands and knees. i use a natural floor cleaner, because it is safe if my kids wants to "help" me or if my son drops something in the floor and then puts it in his mouth, or if my dogs lick the floor or something. Plus, its cheaper then most, which is always a good thing. lol. i always just mix up a gallon and then scrub with a cloth! that way i can make sure that it really is clean.

They run around $70 though, right?

My entire house is tiled, and I mean ENTIRE. I do hands and knees.  I'm hoping one day to get an awesome mop for whenever we buy our own house but until we do, hands and knees it is. Good luck finding a good one!

I was just hoping I could find a mop to use to scrub my floors well enough but from these replies it looks like I am going to continue scrubbing the old fashioned way lol.

thanks ladies!

This one is around $60 online, but I just saw it at my local Walmart this week for $47, I think.  I found a small steam cleaner with attachments at a resale store for $5 and it works great!
