sleep time for my two boys :(

my two 1/2yr old and 11month old boys share a bedroom. up until now i've been having my oldest fall asleep in their room by himself while his little brother will fall asleep in the living room. for nap time i just leave them like that. for night time i move my youngest to his crib after they both fall asleep. i want to stop that. i want to get them to be able to fall asleep in their room together. i'm just worried that they'll play off each other, keep each other awake. weither its them playing or them fussing.

i have them on a routine before bed. they get a bath together where they also brush their teeth, then it's to their room to get their pj's on, then two books and then normally, i'll then take my youngest out and put him in the pack-n-play with a bottle(where he ends up falling asleep) and then give my oldest a sippy of water and put up the babygate. he sometimes lays down in his bed and falls asleep but alot of the times he plays for a bit then lays in bed.

i'm going to start tonight to get them to sleep in the room together, but i was wondering if any moms had any pointers, tips, suggestions, whatever. thanks in advance. :)

We just moved my 15 month old daughter and 5 year old stepdaughter into the same room.  We are expecting a boy in June and we wanted to get the girls set up and comfortable with the routine way in advance.  Also, Caroline was trying to climb out of the crib so it was time for her to move out of it.  We didn't bother with a toddler bed, we got bunk beds - which was the best choice for our situtation.  The first few nights, they stayed up giggling and not sleeping - and Caroline climbed the ladder to the top bunk!  We've since fixed that issue.

It will take some work, but eventually they'll get used to it.  You may have to go in and make them get back in their beds a few times and remind them that it's bedtime.

Caroline goes to bed first so we put her in bed and let my SD watch a show on the tv (a 30 minute show from the DVR).  Usually by the time the show is over, Caroline is asleep and we can have SD go to bed without any issues.

I hope some of that helps.  It may work better to give them slightly different bedtimes for a bit.

good luck!
