I was just on the forum titled Carseats and saw alot of references to Extended Rear Facing (ERF.) Can anyone tell me about it, and maybe list some informative websites?

Thanks ladies!

It is when you continue to rear face past the 1 year and 20 lb mark.  Some people continue to rear face for a few months longer, others till two and some believe children should rear face until at least 5 years.

Its keeping your child rear facing past the minimum of 1 year and 20 lbs because its 5times safer. I agree with Coasties_Girl, you will find everything you need in the car seat safety group.

Search on you tune for extended rear facing and you will see exactly why so many of us do it! It is 5 times safer and 1 year olds are at such high risk of internal decapitation when they are ff. My 3 year old is still rf and he loves it!

I'm on my computer now so here's a video...

And my 3 year old ERF

Mommy to my angel baby (miscarried 6/21/06 at 10 weeks), Jason Josiah (born 6/6/07) who is always pushing to be the best he can be, and my VBAC baby who tested my patience to no end by being 15 days late Delaney Abygail Grace (born 4/19/10)

The video that Jasonsmom2007 posted is the one that made me want to ERF. You tube has a bunch more videos too. :]

Refacing past 20lbs and 1 year. You may need to check not all carseats are safe to ERF with. Check the weight and height limits

its when you continue to keep your kid facing backwards past 1yo & 20lbs. my friend kept her kids backwards until they could sit in boosters. people claim 1&20lbs in the min. and the min isnt good enough for their kids and its supposed to be safer
