How much sleep do you need a night to fully function in the morning?

I like to get 9 hours of sleep. Most of the time I usually get 7. I sometimes take a nap during the day.

Wow I was just thinking about this lol.

As of right now, I am pretty functional in the morning on 5-6 hours of sleep, and that is total, not in a row.  I'm up two or three times a night with my 6 week old, though I know I'm half asleep in the glider in her room, while she is nursing.

Mind you, that gets me functional in the morning... I'm beat by midday.  To be functional all day I think I'd need at least 7 uninterrupted hours.  I have a few months before that can happen again.  :)

Apparently I only need 4-5 because that's about all I get most nights. My 11 month old hasn't slept through the night yet!!!! I don't think I fully function though. Every 4-5 days I seem to have a break down. So I take an extra nap and start all over!!!!
