My little boy is 5 weeks old and started passing hard stools yesterday.  Are there any things I can do at home to help?

yu can do gas drops, that sometimes helps. a warm bath nd belly massage will make it more comfortable for him. our ped. put vaseline on her pinky nd put up his butt a little bit, i would never try it personally but i know moms that do. they also have suppositories that yu stick up there. try the gas drops first. his formula may also have too much iron for him

I agree with the formula possibly having too much iron causing his problems. DD was EBF, and we used goodstart gentle which worked well for supplementing. If it persists I would consider changing his formula.

I was going to recommend Nestle Goodstart as well!

What type of formula does your LO drink/eat?

Glycerin suppository, call your pedi and ask about switching formula.

Had same problem @ about 7 weeks.  My doc said it WAS from iron in formula.  He had me give him Gerber pear juice, which has extra vitamin C to break down iron.  2 ounces, twice a day.  Worked like a charm!  I did use gas drops occasionally too.  Pediatrician reccomended!
