Newborn Mommy's: how many hours is your little one awake/sleeping?

I read in the book from the hospital the baby will sleep 16 hours. I seriously don't think my 1 week old is awake 8 hours a day! She and I go to bed about 10, nursing for about a 1/2 hour, then she wakes to nurse typically about 12a, 2a, 4a, 6a, 8a, etc. She wakes to nure but seems to sleep while nursing. Once we get up in the morning she is awake for awhile around 11ish, then again sometime mid afternoon and evening. Anyone else have a sleepy one?

He's up maybe 5-6 all together? He is a preemie though.

i never counted how long he was awake either. he slept a majority of the time for the first 3 months. he was born 6 weeks early though so up until his due date he literally only woke to eat and would fall asleep in the middle.

Yes, my son was like that and still sleeps a lot. He sleeps from 8:00 p.m. to at least 7:00 a.m., sometimes up to 8:30 a.m. and then still takes 3-4 naps during the day. He is 3 1/2 months old
