Breasfeeding question

Ok please don't bash me this is hard enough as it is. I just had my dd2 Thursday and chose to solely breastfeed. I am very proud of myself because even in the hospital she has never had a bottle. My dd1 I gave up because it hurt. I feed her on demand and my question is is it normal for a baby to go 5 to 6 hours without eating? She eats really well during the day but at night she goes long periods of time until both my breasts are full and leaking and I have to wake her up before I explode. And before anything is said I know the doctors recommend every 2 to 3 hours but on demand is my personal choice.

When DS was a newborn I had to wake him up too. I think its just because they are so sleepy at first. Go ahead and wake her up if you need to nurse. I had to constantly tickle DS's feet so he'd nurse longer than 5 minutes at a time. It didn't help that I had a c/s and the meds I took seemed to make him a little sleepy too. After I stopped taking them he was more alert.

In the first few weeks i had to wake her every 3-4 hrs.she was losing weight. I would count dipes and wake baby if count is low or if weight is not progressing. Congrats on baby...pic???

Is she back up to birth weight yet? If so I would not worry about waking her at all.
I also fed my daughter on demand not by a clock.
Great job momma and congrats

I don't take any of the prescriptions my Dr gave me. Lol pills stronger than tylenol scare me.

I didn't mean to imply you were. Its just my personal experience. I don't like to take meds either. But with the c/s I had a lot of pain and tylenol just didn't help.
