Gradually mix formula in with her juice until she'll take a full "milk" bottle. Then switch to using water insead of juice. And babies shouldn't have juice until they are 6 months old, so after you get her back on milk stay away from the juice.

I wouldn't put it in her juice. Maybe try watering her juice down a lot so maybe she will kinda be like hmmm this was better before and take her milk .

Your mistake was giving her the juice in the first place  :)  It tastes WAY better than formula, so of course she prefers it. . . . No worries, you're the mommy, and she can't have juice unless you give it to her (I'm assuming that at 6 months, she can't open the fridge and pour herself a glass).  So stop giving her juice.  Will she be pissy?  Absolutely!  But she'll get over it when she's hungry and there's no other option but her bottle of formule  :D

As for a Dr who tells you to water down a baby's formula - fire him immediately.  Formula may be imperfect, but upsetting the balance of nutrients even more by watering it down can only cause harm.  He should know better.

She is a few days away from 6 months so juice is not going to hurt her, try mixing the formula in with the juice. I mix it up with Hawk. He is almost a year but still and 6months, I would use juice or a little sugar free koolaid as the "base" for his bottle.... Juice at 6 months is ok. And your the mom so do what you think is best for your baby and ignore the rude responses you will most likely get here.

you probably realize giving her juice this young wasn't a good idea. I would just stop giving her juice altogether and just formula or breast milk. She will eventually take it she won't starve herself and will realize she can't have juice anymore. you'll just have to endure some crying for a few days. I don't think its a good idea to mix formula with juice...

Juice isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's also full of sugar with no nutritional value.  Rather than using it to fix constipation issues, find out WHY she's constipated and fix that  :)  If she's on any solids, they could be causing it - back off for awhile and see if it improves.  If she's not on solids, it could be the formula she's on.

My twenty month old still doesn't get juice. My four and a half year old gets an occasional 100percent juice mixed with half water for a treat.

Wow - I thought everybody on here was being pretty respectful about giving opinions. . . . .

I suggested figuring out why she was constipated rather than giving juice - and I made it clear that it wasn't horrible that she had the juice  :)  But if she's giving you trouble about taking her formula because she prefers juice, then finding an alternative to juice will only help you.  And finding the root cause of a problem is always a better /healthier idea than just treating the symptoms anyhow.

Your Dr told you to give juice - I get that you trust this Dr, but he also told you to water down her formula, and that is just plain unhealthy - No Dr worth their salt would say that, no matter how qualified or educated they think they are.  Watering down formula is a dangerous and unhealthy practice.  Juice, on the other hand, while not the best thing she could get, is also not the worst.  Like I said.  But it's a band aid - treating the symptoms of constipation will not actually make the constipation causing problem go away.

20 years ago car seats and seat belts were considered unecessary precautions  :)  We know better now, so we do better now.  What we know about nutrition has come a long way in 20 years - holding to the older standards of practice won't help anyone.

Seeing as she was a preemie and not quite 6 months old, I'm glad to hear she's not on solids yet. . . but honestly, on cafemom, you can never be too sure  :)

I stand by my suggestion for figuring out what's causing the constipation issues - it will make for a happier and healthier baby.
