Am I the only one who doesn't like the term "breastfeeding"?

Ok, follow me here. As late as the early 1900's the terms "light" & "dark" meat were used to describe turkey/chicken pieces b/c the words "breast" & "thigh" were not supposed to be uttered in public. It wasn't PC.
So, although we've refered to it as "feeding" or "nursing", up until the advent of formula, the term "breastfeeding" did not exist & it really rubs me the wrong way.
I feel like it was made to make our already sex-phobic population feel weird about it b/c we're constantly saying the word breast, which up until you become a mother, is considered a sexual term.

I guess I just don't understand the double standard. Why don't we call it "natural" feeding or "human milk" instead of breastmilk? I mean, we say "cow's milk", not "udder milk" or "tit milk", ya know? Why not say "mother's milk" & "nursing' & leave it at that?

lol My DH & I call it "boob juice", but we're also quite open-minded/liberl/progressive...we don't find anything shameful about sexuality in the first place, but I think America in general is just so puritan that most of the public cringes at the word "breastfeeding", like it's akin to incest or something.
I wonder what the straight translations for other languages are...?

I don't find anything wrong with it. They are breasts and we use them to feed our children, exactly what they were meant for in the first place. I also don't think they should unsexualized just because we become mothers, but then I think its stupid that they are so sexualized in the first place. If we as a people lightened up about it, and treated them as what they are, the means to naturally feed our children, it wouldn't matter anyway. But thats just me.

I haven't ever thought that omg in saying the word breast! Lol. It's like saying hand or mouth. It's a body part like any other. It has a general use which is to function in a non sexual way. Just like your hand and mouth are used every day, their primary functions being begin in nature and completely non sexual. But they can and are used in sexual manors frequently. No one bats an eye if you say the words hand or mouth because they are body parts as even though they can be used in sexual ways that is not their primary or first function so therefore they are not taboo. For some reason the breast has been made sexual even though the function of the breast is for feeding a child. Yes they are sexual when being used sexually but that is their secondary purpose just like our hand or mouth. I don't know why but our society has perverted it so far away from its functionality standpoint even the word assigned to the body part can be seen as offensive. I have never once thought the word bfing could or would offend anyone and I am a baptist born and raised so believe me I know a bunch of prudes and proper Nancy's and I've still never seen the word itself being shunned or offensive. Anyway it is sad to me that breasts are so sexualized because I truly see them like any other body part that has a function but can also be used in a secondary sexual way.
