Infant Death Statistics on Crib Bumpers - What do I do now?

I am completely against crib bumpers. We got one for DD for her baby shower and its brand new and still in the closet.

My friend is having a baby in July and she bought a crib bumper that goes along with her bedding! Sure its SUPER cute but SO freaking dangerous. I'm trying to talk her out of using it. Does anyone have any info or statistics about infant deaths and crib bumpers?

I am going to use one just to look cute, but once our son starts sleeping in his crib we are getting one of the mesh ones :)

I used them with my oldest and took them out when he started pulling himself up into the standing position because I was afraid he was going to climb up and out. Nothing bad happened to him while they were in there.

Suggest a breathable crib bumper.

bumpers are fine until little one starts sqirming and turning over.

I use the bumpers because... My son his leg got stuck through his crib bars up to his thighs :( Poor baby boy the bumper was down too far. No issues with them. Newborns don't roll over to them to suffocate. even at 3-6 months by 6 m-12 M they know how to pick their little heads up they have not caused any issues that I have ever known. But could do your own reserach on it to find out. I like them because of my babies not getting stuck between bars at night, or hands arms.

Don't they have net-like bumpers now that are supposed to be cute and safe? Or are those still unsafe?

My babies are also 8 months before sleeping in the crib.
