Okay so Im weaning Evan off his pacifier cold turkey...not going to well.  This is only day 2...he cries and whines himself to sleep for naps and bedtime because he wants his pacifier.  Im not going to give it to him but does anyone have any tips?  Also he has a blankie that he hugs to go to sleep, but hes not really impressed with the blankie too much anymore.

Okay so Evan is now off the pacifier and hs not even thinking about it.  My sister was watching him for me while i went to the store he woke up and she tried to give him his pacifier and he started screaming at her lol.  Mission accomplished and it wasnt really that hard.

I gradually snip off the tip of the nipple for a week or so until there is nothing left for them to suck on. This worked well with 3 of my kids.

My son is 15 months, and been a rough process but we've cut it down to only, nap time or bed time (both with him spitting it out when he's asleep). I made it to a point he could only have it while sitting down or sleeping. If he was running around no paci.. We're slowing trying to get rid of nap time but that's still kinda tough on him. We're working on it. Its a long process but we're getting there. Good luck Momma!

My 18 month old doesn't nap anymore, but he just stopped napping. I wish he still would!!

Not nap time! A paci at nap. I wouldn't do that to my guy.

Logan only takes one nap now. He's combined his morning/afternoon nap into one.

With my daughter, when she turned 12 months, we told her that we needed to gather all the pacifiers in the house to give to newborn babies at her school.  We bundled them up in a gift bag and took them to her school (where we then had then thrown away obviously.....) and she felt like a big girl and was proud of herself for sharing.  After that day, she would ask for her pacifier but we just reminded her that all the newborn babies had them and that she didn't need them anymore - then we QUICKLY distracted her and she did great!  We used organic lolipops, trips to the park and hide/seek games to distract her. GOOD LUCK!!!

My son turned 2 last month and he still has his paci, but ONLY at nap or bedtime. He doesn't miss it during the day when he's busy playing, but he pretty much can't sleep(at all) without it. He has always had a strong need to suck so I guess he just needs it more. Even if its not in his mouth when he's asleep, he still does the "sucking motion". I've tried a few times to put him to sleep without out, and good lord that was awful. His dr said as long as he doesn't use it constantly all day, that his teeth should be fine.

Yes, we did this too! I totally forgot - GREAT IDEA!!! It's so funny when the little kids try to suck on the paci but it's been cut. My daughter would go throw them in the trash (or on the ground if we were outside).
