Argh - What do you do when...

Katie went to sleep at 9:30 PM and now for some reason at 3 AM is wide awake. I don't know what to do with her! I'm so tired I could cry.

Before I could just cuddle her and nap against her while she cooed. Now that she's a crawling round the bed, squiggling toddler, I can't. Her crib only has three sides so I can't even stick her in there.

What do you do when your mobile baby just won't sleep?

I'm not able to let her cry it out. Besides that, she didn't cry at all - she was happy just to sit up and enjoy the darkness.

This is the first time I ever had a hard time with her. Since infancy, she has slept amazingly well because we cosleep. She's now almost a year old and it was our first rough night. I think it was because of the heat, she's not used to it.

Quoting Satterfield19:

I know that this may seem horrible but it is what my pediatrition said to do. Just let them cry back to sleep she said it should only take about 3 days to get them to sleep through the night. My DD slept through the night from 2 1/2 months and then at 6 1/2 all of the sudden she started to wake up again...i couldn't do it for the longest time but it started happening so much that it was my last option. It was the hardest thing that I ever had to do and of course I didn't go back to sleep while she was crying but it did work.

I just let my ds play in the room and wear himself out, with the lights dim and the no noise or anything. My ds is in a toddler bed so once he calms down and is ready to sleep he just goes and gets into bed.

I lay them down and rub their back, they usually fall back asleep.

My dd is always awake at night, whether she's just cooing or screaming. It's annoying but I think my body has gotten use to only having 3 hours of sleep a night :-/
