Haven't yet dd is 6 and wants them but I dont think she is responsible enough to take care of them so I told her for her 8 th birthday

I agree with this... what if she gets older and doesn't even want earrings. I would also wait until she's old enough to care for them, just my opinion.

Got my DDs ears pierced little after one. If she doesn't like it then she can take them out. I rather do it young when she won't remember and won't fiddle with them than older.
