Mouth, hand and foot disease...Help!!

I took my 9 1/2 month old DD to the hospital last night and they told me she had mouth, hand and foot disease!

Right now, she hasn't had a fever in over 24 hours, but now she has a rash all over her little body and isn't taking solids....she is taking fluids only.

So my questions are...the rash is there anything I can do to help it go away?  Where and how would she have gotten this!!  I have to call for a follow up with my Pedi on Monday and Tuesday.

Any advice will help! Thanks Ladies!

There is nothing u can do it will go away on its own just tylonal and ibu and some Benadryl if ur doctor says it is ok that helps the itching but other then that there is nothing u can do and it can take up to 10 days to be better ;( and your child is very contagious

I'm sorry. Hope your LO gets better soon.

I've heard of this but none of my kids had it. Anyone else have some helpful hints for this Mom?

Nothing you can do about the rash. fluids are most important.

My brother's children had this recently. Nothing you can do but stay home. It's EXTREMELY contagious.

my oldest son had that and it can be picked up anywhere. the only thing that helped him was daily baths in aveeno oatmeal bath, benadryl, and cortizon cream to help sooth the rash. other than that there is nothing else that can be done, it just has to 'run its course'

I think with HFM it just has to go away on its own. My son had it when he was about 18 months and he had little blisters in his mouth, mostly on his tongue (no rash) and they gave him a mouthwash to swish and spit out to help numb his mouth so he could eat something. Other than that, it just had to pass on its own. It sucks but as far as I know there is nothing else that can be done. I hope you LO feels better soon.

Once the rash shows they are no longer contageious. We just got over it this week ourselves.
It's common to get, especially for young kids. It's one of those sicknesses, that all little kids get.
