so this past week my son who just turned 5 months old had been such a whiney baby. he isnt crying just kinda making terrible like waaaa noises over and over. i feel like he might be teething but idk what to do. he doesnt stop unless im holding him but i dont want him to be over attached to me. right now he is sitting in his high chair literally right beside me pulling on my shirt and just fussing. anyone else experience this? he isnt hungry he just ate and woke up from a nap so he isnt tired either. ahhhhh
update: he is fine now. just teething. i finally see it underneath his gum when he let me look in his mouth. i figure he is gonna be pretty fussy for a while

teething, ear infection, sick, something is going on with his little body. there is nothing wrong with holding you baby when he needs you.
he doesnt need me though thats the thing. he isnt crying. just yelling almost. hes a big baby. and i dont mean that like crying wise. i mean like he is the size of a 9 month old weight wise and 12 month old height wise. so he kills my back having to carry him all day. i just gave him some teething medicine. i think that was the problem cause he stopped being so loud lol

If he's the size if a 12 month old and it's killing your back already; you've got a long road ahead of you. Maybe he just wants attention? Try to direct his focus elsewhere to a toy and play peek a boo. If he continues I'd make a dr appointment for him on Monday to make sure everything is ok. He's just trying to tell you something.
i think he is just teething. and yeah im pretty much screwed. he better learn how to walk early or something lol cause he is just so big. im not a very big person either. so its gonna be interesting. i thought he would gradually get bigger and i would just adjust but he had some crazy growth spurts. ill figure it out. i just put him down for another nap after giving him the teething tablet. he seems fine now. but its been pretty terrible this past week. he is very clingy. im not gonna lie part of me loves it cause im like awww my wittle baby loves me :) but when i need to cook or do some hw its just frustrating

there is many options out there for babywearing. Ergo, Beco, wraps, Mei Tei. Just don't do bjorn, it'll kill your back and is bad for baby's hips. I also personally found slings really uncomfortable. You could also look into getting him an amber teething necklace, those things work magic. Sometimes babies just need to be held for comfort. That doesn't make them clingy, it makes them feel more secure. And in the end makes them more independent

thanks for the advice. i have a wrap and a carrier but he gets really hot in it for some reason. i think he is fine now. eating some baby food and his feet haha

get him an amber necklace... & holding him will not make him clingy @5 months he still needs you for comfort.
sometimes they go through phases where they need to be help more often.... take this time & enjoy it because pretty soon he wont want to be held & cuddled anymore.
sounds like a normal baby to me. he wont stay like this forever. pick him up love on him. babies do need their mommy and a baby can NEVER get to attached or spoiled. babies need that reassurance that they are not going to be left alone. enjoy all the cuddles you can get now. once baby trusts that you will be there for every little cry ect, baby will more likey want to sit on thier own more often, as they know if they were to need you you will be right there.
thats just my look on it. as with both my boys i have done this ( ones 7 and one is 3 months) and i never had any issues.
