Formula Feeding- 1 month

My 5 week old DD is FF. According to what I have read, she should have 24 ounces per day. She eats 28-30 ounces per day. I know I control exactly how much she eats, but when she is crying because she is hungry- I make her another bottle. She eats 4 ounces every 3 hours (not around the clock- she sleeps 8 hours a night) and I have tried doing 2 ounces every 2 hours around the clock, but she isn't satisfied with less than 4 ounces. I try a pacifier, rocking, walking with her, ect before giving a bottle if it hasn't been at least 3 hours between feeds, but nothing soothes her when she is hungry.
Do you have any advice? I don't want to harm my daughter by overfeeding her.

You did a good thing trying to go to 2 ounces per 2 hours but maybe you did it a wee bit fast? Maybe try and cut it back half an ounce and half an hour or something until she gets to 2-3 ounces per 2-3 hours. It could take some time for her stomach to shrink back to normal size so go slowly

New babies normally nurse almost CONSTANTLY so she probably just wants that constant attachment. Breastmilk has more calories but is not as filling, so a baby's body reacts differently to formula.

Maybe you could try to stretch the feedings out more so that she is eating smaller amounts more often.

Good luck!

My youngest 6 months now. She use to eat like that and still does. She drink 6 in a half ounces every 3 hours n she is perfectly healthy. At two months talk to her doctor n he said to add a little cereal and I did but she still eats a lot

If she's hungry feed her. If she wants 4 ounces every three hours give it to her.

Babies haven't read the manual on what they SHOULD be eating :) If 4 oz every three hours makes her happy, then do it. As long as she's not puking all over and is happy, then she is not being over-fed. I have 5 and every one of them has been different...my oldest was doing 8 oz by 5 weeks! He's not overweight and never was (he'll be 22 next month).
