car seat question

I bought a car seat when I was pregnant with my oldest who just turned two. I also used it with my youngest who is almost nine months. I am currently 6 weeks pregnant again so my question is will it be safe to use again or should we buy a new one ?

As long as its in good condition, sure. Car seats are good for 5 years. You can go to the local fire dept and have them check it to be safe because the straps can wear out and what not.

What's the manufacting date on it? Most carseats last atleast 5, and sometimes 6 years

2 moms liked this

As long as it's not expired, and accident free, then it should be fine!  You can find the expiration date on the bottom of the seat:  It will either say do not use after, or it will say the DOM in which the expiration date will be 6 years after the DOM.

I would just take it to the fire station and have them double check it but I'm sure it will be fine.

As long as it's not expired-this can be found on the bottom of the seat
Never been involved in an accident-even a fender bender
Never have submerged the harness-this interferes with the harness performing properly in a crash

If the harness has been submerged in water I've heard you can contact the company and they will send you a replacement. Not 100% sure but it's worth a try

Most are good for 5 years, but check the expiration day ;-)
