Paying someone to clean your home

How many moms pay to have someone clean your home? What is the going rate? I want to hire someone to come to my house daily while I am at work to do basic chores- sweep, fold laundry, put things away, empty dishwasher, take out trash.  Then once a week clean bathrooms, change linens, sweep, mop, vacuum, dust. How much do you think is reasonable to offer someone to do these things?

I have someone come twice a week. She cleans everything but laundry and the master bedroom. I Pay 12$/hr....it's what she asked for... But this is in Canada.

Wow, $12/hr seems like a great price! I've only called one lady so far and she quoted me $30/hr. :(

My mom has a cleaning business. She charges per sq footage and has several different levels of what she does. I think she makes on average, 80-100 dollars per house and it's based on how often she cleans/what she does.

Basic for her is cleaning counters, dusting, dusting blinds/baseboards, vacuuming, bathrooms, and mopping. I'm sure I forgot some stuff, but it's expensive because gas is so high. Rates have to go up.

Yeah I can see that. Gas prices are outrageous right now! I was just thinking that if she came every day then the once a week cleaning wouldn't be as time consuming. I don't know though..

If you aren't home during the day a lot, I would say twice a week would be a good medium? Once on Monday and once on Thursday or something? That way if you need less or more it's not such a big deal to cut or add?

LOL there's no way in Hell I would pay 30$/hour for cleaning services! Gimme a break....that's way too much... you can definitely get someone good for less. If you go with a big agency though you will have to pay more. Try to find someone private....but make sure you screen them carefully and get references!

My MIL pays a highschool girl $10 an hour. That is pretty cheap.
