Daycare costs

I can't believe how expensive daycare is now!

In my area it's 400 a wk for a child under 1 years old

it's 290-350 for toddlers and pe k!

The cheapest one I found was 200 a week but it wasn't the cleaniest place at all

I wish there ws some law [kinda not really] on having afforadble daycare prices, i feel like they're taking advatage of parents =/

I understand you need to pay your employees, and utilities but if i'm bringing my own supplies [food, clothes diapers, blankies and nap mat] what the heck are you so expencive for?! LOL

Thankfully Mason is in the free special ed program for his autism but after I have my daughter, I will be finishing my classes up that i couldn't do online and it's just so friggin expencive.

Our parents live in Florida we live in New Jersey so we won;t be having the grandma grandpa help =/

I'm thinking a solo babysitter/caregiver maybe cheaper but I'm cautious who Invite into my home.

Anyone else having this issue of budgeting for childcare?

I have always been a sahm, so I don't have experience. But a couple single mom's I know, look for an individual babysitter, it's much cheaper. Do background checks.

I have a nanny in NY, I pay her $500 a week to care for 2 kids at my home. The clean daycare places didn't have flexible hours and were $400-$500 for both kids a week. The ones with flexible hours were so disgusting, couldn't bring myself to drop them off there.
The nanny I have takes the kids out to playgrounds, library , feeds them. It was a lot of work to find a good fit. I went through 8 girls before I found the one I liked.

Yikes! I'm going to school next month, and I'll hopefully be working by next summer, but not if day care prices are that high! :-(

Check with local churches. We have one here that's really cheap. When I find a job that allows us we will most likely put our daughter in for more social interaction with kids.

I was fortunate in tx to find a 24/7 daycare that was 127.80 for the week. That included, breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner. They provided the sleep mats and everything. You could use any twelve hours of a day any day of the week as yor five days. The teachers were awesome. Now that I moved, the price is somewhere around 150 or so a week for a standard daycare, m-f and normal hours. I had someone do Saturday care in my home but I had an eleven year old with my baby do she could tell me if anything was wrong. That sitter ended up flaking, which is how I ended up at the 24/7 one. I wouldn't have someone in my home if I didn't har an older child to keep an eye out.

Daycare is a rip off...my mom works n my dads live in PR so we don't have the help either. I had a baby sitter for dd#1 n she charged me $15 per day n she was great DD loved her but she moved :-(
Then I decided to be a Sahm n Now i have another DD n when I have errands to run I drop the girls off at a new baby sitter n she is great too but I pay her $20 per girl when she does watch them.
Ask your friends or family members if they know anyone that can watch your kids

Wow that is expensive. Where do you live? I pay 145 a week for my 7 month old. He's is in a home daycare. If I sent him to a daycare center it would be more. I have to send diapers, wipes and baby food. Once he is on table food she will provide it.

Daycare can be VERY expensive.  Some even pay more to go to work than to stay at home, or choose not to work and still send their child to daycare or a sitter.  Anyway...............you may want to ask around and see if there is a private sitter you can send your child to.  I'm an at-home-sitter and I charge by the day.  I may be cheaper than most daycares, but then I'm also a lil more expensive than some.  Hope you can find affordable care for your new lil one!

1 mom liked this
I found a home daycare that will charge 200 a week for both of my kids and not charge me for school breaks or summer. Her DD in in first grade with my DD too. I found her on sitter city. Ill save over 200 a month compared to last year, thankfully. Daycare is not cheap.
