My baby wakes up crying

My lil guy is almost 2. When he wakes up from naps and in the mornings he always cries for a lil while. I've seen this once before. All I know to do is hold him (if he wants) and wait it out. Ever see this?

My 2.5 yr old used to do this a lot, still does once in a while. If she wakes up and I'm beside her she doesn't cry, it was only when she'd wake up and she was alone. I think she just got scared and didn't know where she was.

yes. my now 4 yo did that til a lil over 2, hes just not a "morning" person.. hes very grumpy when he wakes.and as an infant toddler he couldnt express that grumpiness in any way other than crying
