To all Mother's of Daughter's... Need Advice Please.

I have an almost eight month old daughter and yesterday I notice when I was changing here that she had redness and a bit of a rash on the  outside of her vaginal area. I have been applying Vaseline Jelly on the area but wasn't sure what else I should be doing!?! I clean that area very well and since I've noticed the rash I've kept here out of the pool. I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Also I would like to add that it does seem to irritate her because she tries to grab the area. Thanks for your help in advance.

It could be a yeast infection. When my oldest had one, her dr gave us a script for a cream.

Try a diaper rash cream not vaseline.

This was my first thought too! If it doesn't seem to get better over the weekend, I would call her Pediatrician and get it checked out! You definately don't want it to get worse if it is a yeast infection! Good luck!!

prob just diaper rash. we noticed a better 'healing' or better treatment using A&D ointment...i think bc it is medicated ointment.

if you think it gets bad enough, one of the best things you can do is let them go without a diaper for a while. We just put three large blankets down and let her crawl in that area for a few hours. It has something to do with getting air to the area vs being trapped in a diaper.

I don't know where the sunbeams end and the starlights begin; it's all a mystery.

California baby diaper cream is wonderful and will do a lot more than Vaseline will. ( any diaper cream would)

I like anti monkey butt diaper rash cream, or babyganics diaper rash cream.

We tried that, bc we cloth diaper. And it made my dd scream every time we would use it.

It could be yeast. Exposé the area to direct sunlight, let it air out, give her yogurt daily and use desitin instead. See if this makes it go away within a few days. Usually if it is yeast, you can get rid of it without antibiotics (which makes it come back again in a cycle)

Yes I actually did just change diapers, also I will stop the use of vaseline and use diaper rash cream only. Also I do plan on taking her into the pediatrician if it does not improve. Thanks.

Grabbing at that age is normal. She may have grabbed it and irritated it. I would stop the Vaseline ASAP and use desatin or another diaper rash cream. Did you change diaper brands? Add a new juice to her diet?

Would butt paste qualify as diaper rash cream!?!  Thank you.
