Red doesn't mean infected. Red could be from it rubbing on his clothes.

even there is a little crusty stuff...its pinkish not that red? what should i do? i dont have any rubbing alcohol to clean it...

Call an advice nurse and take him to the dr in the am. I've heard of hunia's around the belly button..not sayin that's what it is...just heard of it. Good luck! and Congrats

At only 5 weeks old...there's no room to chance NOT taking him.

The same thing happened to my son a few weeks after he was born. I made sure to keep it clean and tried to not have anything rub on it and it went away on its own.

Alcohol. If not tonight first thing in the morning. Call the dr if you're worried. It sounds like nothing tho. Bad smell, puss, or lots of bleeding, extremely red are bad signs. A little red and a lil blood is no biggie.
