Some infants just don't get the suck, swallow, and breath reflexes down to well at first, especially if a bit early. Mine all spent months in the NICU (27 weeks, 34 weeks, and 30 weeks) due to many issues. Mine are all adults now. I know its hard, but this to shall pass.
I'm so sorry : (
My first daughter was born right at 38 weeks, but was closer to the age of a 35-36 week gestation baby. She too had a hard time learning to suck and eat. We spent the first 4 weeks pretty much forcing her to eat. She would get tired and fall asleep and we would have to wake her up and try again. She finally got the hang of it! She has always been a light eater but she eats often. Try not to let yourself worry too much, I know its hard, but just know that he will eventually get the hang of it, and you will wonder why you ever worried! :)
