teething and meds

My 5 month old is in pain :( He has cried for 3 days straight, crunching his whole body as he frantically tries to shove things against his gums. He isn't sleeping, has gas and has been throwing up an unusual amount. has a slight fever, and I dont know what to do. Not sure if this is all related to teething, but its so terrible that is happenening all at once.

I ebf him and nurse him a couple times an hour for comfort and pain relief. Now that doesn't seem to comfort him either. I have tried teathing rings and frozen washcloths. I have used baby orajel a handful of times, but avoid meds. Im wondering if at any point I should be giving him something more? Or is this something he will just have to ride out.

Im not really sure how to go about giving him tylenol - I dont want to keep him on it all day? , so just when he seems to be in a lot of pain?

Teething tablets are something I havent tried - would I find these at the pharmacy?

Thanks!

I gave my ds Tylenol when he was starting to teeth around that age and it was really bad. I do feel like Motrin works better for teething though but you can't give that to baby till 6 months. Don't do orajel, it really doesn't do anything but hardens the gums and burns. I also use the hylands teething tablets and there are also teething pellets you can use and they are all natural. Some people swear by the amber teething necklace too but it didn't really work for my ds. Ds started teething about that age and got his first tooth at 7 months. Good luck, teething is rough on both baby and mom:(

yea most drug stores sell teething tablets cvs walgreens. when your baby is the most upset i would give him some sort of pain reliever for infants.

He has the amber necklace - it seemed to help when he first started wearing it but in the thick of it its hard to tell if its helping or not. Can't hurt to keep it on

The teething tablets seem to help my kids a lot when they we're teething.

DD wears her baltic amber teething necklace and gets hylands teething tablets during the day. At night, since she can't wear her necklace, she gets a dose of advil that is supposed to be good 6-8 hours.

She went from being a little monster to cutting teeth without us realizing they were in once we got her necklace.
