Mine got sick around that age. I was told to turn the shower on as hot as it would go and sit in the bathroom and use it as a steam room.waste of water but it helped my son. Oh and a humidifier!

I agree 100000000% that's what I did and still do with my dd and she's almost 2. I also would bring her into the bathroom with me when I showered, in her car seat, or her pillow, or bouncer and just have her sit in there with me while I showered

Same here and mine is almost 3. I took him to the hospital and he was so little they couldn't give him anything and they sent me home and told me to do that. Works better than the med!

Call your babies ped. They usually have a service that will take your call and call the doc. He will call you back and tell you what to do. Dont take any chances with a newborn, also keep an eye on his fingernails and his lips if they get a bluish tinge or his belly goes way up when he breathes in dont wait for the doc to call back GET HIM TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM ASAP they will contact the babies doc from there.
Im not trying to make you worry, hopefully its just a little cold but i have two (usually healthy boys) who both had breathing problems and caughing like your little guy has and i know how serious it can sometimes be.

Also call the doc in the morning and get the baby a sick apt. They will see you on a weekend or tell you where you can go with him. Even if they just tell you that it is a cold it is always a good idea to check just in case. Plus you will feel better knowing he is okay and they will be able to give you advice on how to help him and what to look for to see if he is getting better or when to worry if he seems to get worse.
After all if it is just a cold then good, and dont worry about over reacting cause you would defo not be the first. And if it is serious they can do things to help him.

Just watch for retracting, bluish tint to the nails and lips, or acting lethargic. The stream shower works great. You can also use a drop of saline nose drops or breastmilk in each nostril before you suck them out.

To the op... if your still here. Is the baby making any funny noises when he chokes or when he breathes in? Like a weesy sound or a rattle sound(you might have to put your ear on his chest to hear that one) or a whooping sound like whooooooooop when he finally gets to take a breath?
