Cola in baby's bottle

A family member of mine used to put kool-aid or coke or other sodas in their son's bottle. I believe before one year old he was fed formula, but after then I know for sure ALL he drank was sugar drinks.

I mean, literally, the only thing he EVER drank was soda, etc. in his bottle.

It makes me curious if this is a commonly done thing?

Have you ever done it, or has anyone done it that you personally know?

I would try to swap it out for water or even milk when I was around but he would cry that it didn't have enough flavor and they'd replace it with soda.

To be fair, his mother did make some effort to be a good mother to him in other ways (cuddling, reading stories, etc.)

Needless to say he is now a teenager with a mouth full of rotted teeth. Almost irreparable damage has been done to his teeth.

My former babysitter told me she witnessed the mom of the other baby she watch give the baby koolaid in his bottle he was only 5 months old. I have yet to give my 12 month old ds anything but water, milk, or formula in his bottle and maybe a diluted cranberry juice in his sippy . I want to give my ds a good healthy start. Heck I am trying to cut soda pop out of my own diet.

I've never actually seen anybody do that and think it's disgusting that anyone does. I still don't give soda to my 3 year old. She's only had it twice in her life. She usually only drinks water, watered down juice, and milk. All my 7 week old gets is breastmilk and that's all she'll drink until she's closer to a year old.

If you're a bad parent its a normal thing. I used to completely flip out on my father in law for giving my daughter mountain dew.my children won't be getting soda ever.
