Is there such a thing as holding your child too long?
My son seems to be very 'needed' as I call it. :) My hubby says I'm going to spoil him by picking up and holding/rocking him so much. SHOOT! He's 5wks old and YES I'm going to comfort him when he cries!!!! Our daughter would lay and 'play' for a long time and not need to be held. But our son HATES laying on his back, will only sit in the bouncer or swing for no longer than 20min at a time. Makes it a lil difficult to get things done (such as cook dinner). I do wear him when grocery shopping. Just don't know what to do or tell him. My mom said that in her experience boys need a lil more attention than girls. She wore my lil brother in a sheet when he was a baby (24yrs ago).
Just wondering what other mom's thoughts are on this????? Thanks!
My now 4 month old was like that until around 3 months old. He just needed to be comforted and held. Its a big scary world out here, they need to feel safe in your arms :)
And you cant spoil a baby that young!

I don't think you can hold a baby too much. Get all the baby cuddles while you can! :)
you can't spoil him, responding to his needs in a timely and comforting manner instills trust and creates for more independence later on. I'd wear him at home if I were you...I used to wear my two little ones for hours even at the house, while doing laundry, the dishes, vacuuming or sweeping, going on a walk...
You can't spoil a baby, and I really don't think it's a boy vs. girl thing. My son loves to be held, of course, but is also pretty independent. When he was smaller, he was pretty content to lay in the boppy next to me on the couch (don't worry, I was there, he couldn't roll over, etc).
Quoting lauratupper:I don't think you can hold a baby too much. Get all the baby cuddles while you can! :)
