
we used to...back when I was concerned about them rolling off of a big bed, but they had learned to climb out of the crib. We had each of the like that for a year or two before we got them a frame, and they had gotten used to their bed's limits...becuase even with the mattress on the floor they did roll out of bed, they just didn't fall hard or hurt themselves ;)

nope, ds has a toddler bed and it's really low to the ground, not even a foot off...

I won't be doing this though as the DH bough my DD a convertable crib which should take her till she hates it as a teen....maybe she'll never hate it?
we had a convertible crib so we just took the side off and made the mattress as low as it would go. She never fell out... but our crib goes really really low. like 4 inches off the ground.
Then after a few months she was too big for the crib mattress and we just got her a twin bed.
