His cough? I know he cant take anything over the counter, we have been running a humidifier at night, giving him a tsp of honey as needed per pediatrician! I have been usuing baby rub on his chest tho I don't know that it will help, sitting with him in a steamy bathroom is what we r trying now. His pedie said his lungs sounded clear when we were there on Friday so its just a cough, but.... It's a bad one. It disrupts his sleep and makes him very cranky it also makes him not wanna eat he already has a slow weight gain as it is so the pedi has me giving him pedicure for that he cant afford to have a decrease in appetite. Please help, I don't know what else to do!!

Try patting his back. It can help break up congestion.

Some doctors say you can give children's Bendryal but I don't know at what age/weight. I think DS was about a year and half when his doctor said he could have it.

If he isn't better by Monday I may call his pedi and ask about it as my last resort! He is just 13 months old so I'm not too crazy about that idea bit if pedi gives the green light on it I may have to try!

You can add menthol to his humidifier water (they make this special though.. use the pediatric version found in walgreens to get the right strengh) and Benedryl, believe it or not, is excellent at killing coughs temporarily (about a four hour window.)

The dosage for Benedryl = 1 mg per pound of body weight (this is dyphenhydramine were talkin about)

Double check with your doctor of course..
It was a miracle worker with chronic coguhs in the kids I nannied.

Yeah I give my dd benadry for allergies when she needs it. Call your pediatrician or local pharmacy and they will give you a dosage based on age and weight
