I'm sorry it's long, please, please read.

So let me start off by saying normally my baby sleeps great! Sleeps long stretches at night with a feeding here and there. We can usually get him on a somewhat normal schedule; but a recent outing caused him to completely flip his schedule around. I'm pretty sure he was over tired from being out and would not go to sleep. Since then, and its been weeks, he has been on a reverse schedule. He wants to go to bed between 4:00 am and 5:00am. He will then sleep till the afternoon. I have made sure to have the blinds open to let light in and make things noisy during the day and dim lit and quiter at night. That has not helped. So my husband had some days off for the holiday and started waking him up early, around 9-10am. Hoping he would be tired and go to bed earlier. He still takes a few naps during the day. But waking him up early is not helping. He still stays up until 4 in the morning. My main concern is I don't think it's safe for baby to be sleep deprived like this, only getting 5-6 hours a night! Plus it sucks for me too. Now to top it off, we saw some people this weekend and now baby is sick. He has a stuffy, runny nose, slight fever, and coughs and sneezes on occasion. Plus he threw up once. I feel like I should definately let him get as much sleep as he needs right now. But also worried that hubby will get crabby cause I didn't wake him up early. I'm not sure what I should do? Does anyone have advice for me? I need to figure out how to get this kid on a normal schedule!

Thank you for reading this, I know it's long. But I'm desperate and could really use some advice. Thanks in advance.

Oh and baby is 6 1/2 months old, EBF. This is my first. I currenly stay home, but have to go back to work next year. I feel like I screwed up everything:(

At 6 1/2 months there is no "normal" schedule. That he was sleeping so wonderfully before is a blessing. For the all night play time try to make sure he doesn't nap after a certain time. First eliminate his last nap. If he won't stay awake, undress him, still not staying awake? Bathe him. Try to move his bedtime earlier and earlier. Will it be easy? No. Will he sleep through the night? Unlikely. But you might be able to get more night time sleep time. Around 9 months should be another growth spurt and it may mess with bed time again.

For the nose thing try spraying a little breastmilk up his nose, let it sit a minute and suction it with the bulb syringe. It'll help break up the mucus. Poor guy!
