Hands in a fist?

I can never understand why my daughter had her hands in a fist up until recently. The only time they "unfolded" was by loud noises or loud voices. I still don't understand. Any moms out there under stand why babies hands stay in a fist for the longest time of infancy?

Habit more than anything.  Babies need to kind of 'uncurl' after they are born.  It'll pass :).

Comfort mostly.... it's also a sign of hunger. :)

Its just a natural reflex..........at about 6-8 wks my kids begin to open them a lot more & by 3m they could grab at stuff & use both hands together!

Natural reflex. Some babies do it when they are hungry too : ) Like my DD
