My 4.5 month old son has a very stuffy nose, and chest congestion. He has been coughing a lot lately and wheezing a bit when he is just breathing. He hasn't had a fever. Should I take him into the doctor to see if it an infection or assume it is a cold and wait it out? I already called the nurse an hour and a half ago and still haven't heard back.
Thanks everyone for the advice and the well wishes! He went to the doctor and had an ear infection and sinus infection. He started antibiotics yesterday so hopefully he'll start feeling better soon.

Saline up the nose to flush it out, I wouldn't take baby to doctor unless there is a fever

How many days have you been doing this? If it's been 3 or 4 then it's time to take baby in, they should check for an infection and may prescribe Clairton to help with the congestion

I would see what the advice nurse says. Are you using a humidifier?

We ended up taking the advice of the nurse and went in. He had a sinus infection and the start if an ear infection. So I'm glad I didn't wait after all. Thanks for asking.

Aww, poor guy :-(
Breastmilk in both the nose and ears can really help!

My dd is the same age and had been like this on and off for a month! I took her in when she had her well visit and doc said she sounded fine and wasn't concerned. But she's not wheezing
