I wish I would have been given some tips on how to adjust to being a first time mother.

I liked getting unexpected things. My dh's cousin's wife... Sent a really cool thick fleece blanket with the tie fringe? On one side was Red Sox logo fleece and the other side was navy fleece with his first and middle name embroidered? We got it after the fact and it is so warm and something he can keep.
One friend got me a cute library bag with her fave baby books. I also liked people going in together for big ticket items.
