Well my son, Jacky had a similar problem. We got over it by having either my husband or I stand and sorta hold the baby while he was laying down in the crib and once he fell aslepp quietly creep out of the room.
Make the room dark and soothing. Do you have any crib soother? I've heard of a crib soother that has different settings for naptime and night time. Check it out:
