I just started my baby on Similac Sensitive, due to her intolerance of my milk, and she's taken to it well. Except, she won't poop! She is four weeks old and is constipated. She hasn't pooped in nearly 48 hours and I'm getting worried. Is this normal? What can I do?
I haven't tried the bath, but I have massaged her tummy and did the bicycle leg movements. It helped her pass a poop the day after we implemented the formula, but we haven't seen poop since, and it's been 48 hours. She's farting a LOT though, so hopefully that means it'll pass shortly.
Quoting nicki.hemingway:Have you tried a warm bath while rubbing the lower part of the tummy?

I tried - no luck. :(
Quoting nicki.hemingway:Have your tried using vaseline and a baby rectal thermometer. Pretty low tech but effective.
not pooping isn't a sign of constipation. When did you switch to formula? her stomach could still be adjusting to it.
Things that will have are putting a warm blanket from the dryer on her tummy.
Move her legs as if she were riding a bike.
Tiny amount of apple juice with water(but I think she doesn't need this yet).
Ask her doctor about over the counter stool softeners.
Good luck!
