Eczema lotion alternative?

Posted by   + Show Post

I don't think our daughter has eczema, but she does have a few rough patches. I've tried all kinds of lotions for severe dryness, but none have cleared up the rough spots until I used Aveeno Eczema lotion. I love that brand and it worked great on her and kept the patches away, but a bottle doesn't last long and it's too expensive. Does anyone know if there is an alternative lotion that works just as well? Or any recommendations from someone who has little ones who have similar issues?

Coconut oil!! It has worked WONDERS on my little guy's eczema! The lotion they gave us they told me could change the pigment of his skin so i went looking for natural things. I would say its at least worth a try for your LO. It tok 2 days for him and his was cracked, flaky and bleeding! It was horrible!

Yes, we use the basic cetaphil

Quoting pittymama:

do you just use the basic cetaphil? i only use aveeno but having an alternative would be great

Quoting turttlemom:

Yes, it is great, my son really started using it at his 4th bath, since most baby products such as soap, shampoo, baby oil, baby lotion etc gave him or made his eczema worst.

Quoting pittymama:

i heard this but never tried it.

My DS has been used Cetaphil body wash and body lotion since birth. It works great on his eczema.

Oh.. I copy the wrong image, the first one should not be facial cleansers, should be Moisture lotion or something like that, but the bottle is alike that one

Not breast feeding. She's 3.5 years old. I've heard that the milk helps though.

If you're still bf use tata milk.. No joke

She's not breastfeeding and coconut oil does nothing for either one of us. Our skin just soaks it up like a desert :(

Quoting ceckyl:

Coconut oil or breast milk.

If you can get some then steal it because it works wonders! ;)
Also salt baths.. I had really bad eczema when I was younger and I remember my mom always putting olive oil on me as a lotion as soon as I got out of a salt bath. Use non-fragrance lotions, shampoos and conditioners (you have no idea how much residue from this is left on your skin)
Eczema is terrible! I hope she's doing ok!

Is this the hemp lotion I see on the shelves at wal-mart?

Quoting ARawlins:

I used to be an at home consultant. Their products are amazing!

Quoting JLCrunch:

I use their mango or cranberry. It's fantastic!

Quoting ARawlins:

I'm not sure if its ok for little ones, the The BodybShop makes Hemp lotions that work great for eczema. I use it all the time

Walmart is worth a try. The stuff from The Body Shop is expensive but I think it's worth it. I get eczema bad and it hurts so I'm willing to spend the money on it
