What if Anything did the hospital.....

What if anything did the hospital/midwife/doula give you, that you found the most helpful with new baby?

For me, it was when my 2nd was born, and I was given the video, "The Period of PURPLE Crying".  Neither of my girls, ever had any issues, they weren't ever very fussy (babies 1 and 2)  however when child 3 came along (my sweet little angle boy) all of a sudden I had this fussy little baby, that no matter what I tried....nothing worked.   Had I not watched that video the year prior  (there are 11 m between 2 and 3) I likely would have been pulling my hair out and having a complete breakdown, as I know I would have thought I was doing something wrong, and would not have taken it as being a "normal" thing.

Lactation nurse. She helped me get my 2nd child to latch before we left the hospital.  I was out of ideas and she had some tricks.  They worked and we are EBF (no solids) for almost 5 months and counting.

Hospital with my first, absolutely nothing (in fact, I wrote them a 3 page review when they sent home a satisfaction survey detailing everything they f*cked up on). With my second (different hospital), they actually had a LC that stopped by several times a day, which was nice, though I didn't need it since it was second time bfing and my aunt is an LC.

My hospital gave me all kinds of great things. I never had to buy anything for pumping and feeding expressed BM, they gave me a great one shoulder diaper bag that I still use, gave me enough pacis to where I never had to buy one, and gave me preemie diapers...enough to where by the time she grew a bit for NB, I hadn't had to find any.

Oh, I forgot the diaper bag....with my ODD the one they gave me was full to the brim with baby items, a local soap maker had made a line of all natural baby soaps and I got a sample bottle of 3 or 4 (I don't remember exactly) of them.  Plus I got a handmade blanket, bib and washcloth that all matched,  Bunch of other stuff too, I don't even remember what all was in that diaper bag.

With baby 2 I once again got a diaper bag, this one had Johnson and Johnson baby stuff, diapers, wipes, burb clothes....again I don't remember everything that was in there.  I also got a knit cap that the delivery nurse made for her and "Babies First Cardboard Book".

My son was born just before Christmas, his nurse also made him a knit cap (same hospital as #2...the knit caps are kind of like their trademark!) He got a stocking filled with binkies, diapers, a few cardboard books, and a little "Santa" that makes a "crinkle" noise.  He also got a blanket, cap, booties and mittens that had been knit by the LDR staff.

this. The lactation specialist helped me make sure the latch was good. And one of the hospitals I delivered at offers a massage session with a massage therapist.

A sleepsack with the hospital name on it. Other than that they gave me a hard damn time and absolutely no support when it came to breast feeding. I was so happy to be able to leave

I can't really think of anything. I guess the newborn diapers? We got to take home the rest of the package when we left. That's really all I can think of, they didn't give us anything and the "LC" wasn't all that helpful.
