Honey?

Is honey really that bad for babies? My mother said that if babies have honey before the age of two they could die from it. Is that true or just an old wives tale?

It's actually age one. And it's because of the botulism that can be in honey. Harmless to someone older, but it can make a baby extremely ill because their system isn't mature enough to deal with it yet.

Honey can contain botulism spores which are poisonous and can be fatal. It is recommended not to give honey to babies under a year old because of that.
