25 Best Gender-Neutral Baby Names

by Julie Ryan Evans

babyWhen it comes to baby names, we typically put them into one of two categories -- boy or girl. And that's fine for some people, but others like names that don't give away too much, and prefer more gender-neutral names.

For some it's a concerted effort not to impose a gender stereotype on a child in any way. For those who don't want to know the sex of their baby before birth, these names allow them to select a name ahead of time. Others just happen to like a name and are determined to use it no matter what.

Whatever the reason, there are plenty of great ones to choose from, as borrowing from both sides of the gender aisle becomes more and more popular. Here are 25 of the best unisex baby names.

1. Cameron

2. Riley

3. Sam

4. Charlie

5. Rory

6. Reagan

7. Carson

8. Skylar

9. Finley

10. Aubrey

11. Morgan

12. Jamie

13. Devon

14. Francis

15. Sage

16. Quinn

17. Dallas

18. Reed

19. Drew

20. Kyle

21. Alex

22. Kai

23. Andy

24. Bobby

25. Shane

What are your favorite gender-neutral baby names? Do you like unisex baby names in general?

I didn't use any unisex names for my kids but I do love Riley and Aubrey.

This little one coming in August will be named Nolan Riley. I'm not a fan of unisex names but my husband really liked Riley with baby's first name so we're using it.

See, where I grew up Riley was a girls name. I'd never thought of it as a boys name until my husband suggested it with our baby boy coming. Where he grew up it was a boys name and he thought it was weird as a girls name lol. Took a while to get used to it but now I love his name (Nolan Riley).
