My daughter is cutting up herself

My daughter is 10 months old. She has started when i change her diaper she pulls at her vagina and pulls and scratches really hard. At first i didnt think anything of it because my son did the same.

But now she id doing it so hard she is cutting up herself. Her area is always red and reall bright red and  has scratches and cuts from her during bath and diaper changes. Is it normal for her to do this so bad? She is with me 100percent of the time since i am a stay at home mom and i see her doing it so i know its no one hurting her

Maybe she has a yeast infection? They are common in young children. If could be itching and causing pain.

I would take her to the doctor to have all the options checked.

Sounds like it's itchy! See the Dr. yeast infection, or maybe something else.

Do you see any spots? SOmetimes yeast first presents itself as just a lot of redness, and then it'll spread into little spot clusters. She may be itchy.

But, it's normal for them to want to quickly grab down there for the few seconds that they don't have a diaper on. It's exploring, and they'll try to do it faster (which means harder, as they don't know how to go both fast and gentle at the same time) if you tell them know.

Try giving her something to hold just during diaper changes to keep her hands busy. Then change her quickly!
