Do you think you should be married before starting a family?

I don't think it's any of anyone's business honestly. As long as the kids are cared for & loved, why should anyone care if mom & dad (or dad & dad or mom & mom) have a piece of paper saying they've committed to each other?

For me, personally, yes.  I'm traditional like that.  However, I don't judge people who choose to not marry and have a family.  A marriage license doesn't make you any more or less stable as a family unit.

No! My best friend since 1st grade her parents are not married. They have been together for over 30ish years.

The only way I would start a family without marriage is to adopt an older child. I am not socially conservative but I belive in marriage and family - gay / straight.  Regardless of the divorce rate, I think the legal committment is important.

I also think that for all of the women who profess not to need marriage, if their SO asked, they would jump at the chance. Note, I am not talking about a party, but a marriage.

For my hubby and I, yes it was important. But I can't tell someone else if it is or not.

I'd be a big hypocrite if I said yes. I have four kids, I'm not married but plan to be this year or next.

I think marriage is overated. You get the same effect being in a relationship and living together, and lower taxes:)
