Is it normal to start losing a ton of hair a few months after giving birth?

Is it normal to start losing a ton of hair a few months after giving birth? My baby is going to be four months old and I have started to lose a large amount of hair within the last few weeks. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if I should call my doctor. Please let me know your feedback. Thanks!

Yes.  What happens is that the hormone that causes hair to fall out doesn't cause that to happen while pregnant.  So you have all of this extra hair. Then, after the pregnancy, things go back to nomal, but there are 7-8 months worth of hair loss that you never had that all happens at once.

Yes it is normal because you are not on high dose vitamins any more.  And because of the hormone changes as well.  If it becomes to excesive or lasts to long have your thyroid checked out.

Absolutely. It's because you don't have the normal daily loss while pregnant. You're actually shedding the excess now.

Yes. It's your hormones going back to normal or I guess getting a new norm. I asked my hair dresser the same thing

I would say yes, unless you are getting patches from it.

This was the norm for me, I lost plenty of hair after I gave birth to all of my boys.
