Check out the website wholesomebabyfoods.com & read the part about baby led solids. I didn't start solids until my dd was 9 months old before that she was only breastfed. When I started the solids I would nurse her first then give her small pieces of soft food to practice chewing on. After 6 months I would give her small amounts of water in a sippy cup to practice but no more than an oz. She's now 2 & I still don't give her any juice. It's honestly all sugar. I just give her water & she still nurses once to twice a day.
