I think it was when a wiser, older mama told me to let the housework slide when I had a newborn. It really helped my sanity! :-)

Accept things as they are and don't try to force baby to do what you want when you want - do what he/she needs - even if it's not what you want to do at that moment, inconvenient, ect.

Slow down and just be in the moment.

I think that's my biggest struggle. So much of the time I get stuck trying to catch up with what needs to be done next and how behind I am that I forget to just stop and look at the little face of the sleeping baby in my arms, or to stop and give my toddler a big hug and tell her how much she's loved. I try to do it at least a few times a day, to just slow down and put 100% focus on them!

It's okay if everything doesn't get done. If kids are okay, it's all okay.

Do what feels right in your heart, not what other people feel is right. I could have avoided so many things I now consider mistakes if I had followed that advice with my first son.

Don't overwhelm yourself. Baby first, house second
